THE WOODLANDS, TX — Memorial Day is a time to remember the brave men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting for our country. It is a solemn time to reflect on the freedoms we so greatly enjoy and the price that was paid to secure our valued way of life. Texas Engineered Roofing desired to do something special over Memorial Day weekend to honor a local veteran and show support for our military. Brad Briggs, owner of Texas Engineered Roofing, said that they came in contact with Patriots of Texas (a local non-profit organization that helps veterans and first responders in need) about a month ago. Through this interaction, a veteran was identified that was in desperate need of a new roof.
Texas Engineered Roofing spent Memorial Day honoring Ernest Medlin, a disabled Vietnam veteran, by donating a full roof replacement with the help of their crew, manufacturer, supplier, and Patriots of Texas due to a tree falling and damaging shingles as well as the structure. The Medlins do not have insurance and could not afford to make the necessary roof repairs. Another roofing company was originally going to donate the roof but ultimately backed out, leaving the Medlin’s and Patriots of Texas out to dry or — in this case — “wet”.
Not only did Texas Engineered Roofing provide a new roof at no charge, but Brad’s crew upgraded the Medlins’ roof from a three-tab shingle setup to architectural and high profile ridge shingles (all hand nailed) plus continuous ridge vent and ice/water shield as underlayment. The new roof was greatly appreciated by the Medlins, but what was even more appreciated was Ernest’s brave service to our country by Texas Engineered Roofing and the Patriots of Texas.
