Some people may be gifting game consoles and smart phones this Christmas. Roy Campbell is planning something a bit bigger.
The severity of roofing issues Campbell and his team come across might surprise people, he said — leaks that are years old, mold and mildew growing from walls.
Campbell knows there are families right here in greater Houston who have been living in these conditions for years and can’t afford to repair, much less replace their roof.
So, he’s taking action.
“There’s some people that have been needing a roof for a long time and can’t get it; we want to help them,” explained the owner of Telge Roofing.
Earlier this year, the Cypress-based company donated a much-needed new roof to VFW Post 8905.
Now, the business is preparing to give away another roof to a family in need for Christmas.
Telge Roofing is asking the community to nominate individuals and families in need to receive the free roof. Nominations will be accepted until 3 p.m. on Dec. 20.
Nominees must live within the Houston metro area and require less than 45 roofing squares, which means the house must be approximately 2,000 square feet or smaller. A one-story home is preferred.
Nominations may be sent to [email protected] and must include the name of the person or family in need; the address and a photo of the home; and the story of the individual or family in need of a new roof.
Submissions will be evaluated based on need, then narrowed down to 10 candidates and the recipient will be selected randomly in a drawing.
It’s a gift that could be worth up to $20,000.
“I just think it’s the right think to do,” Campbell said about gifting a new roof. “The community’s blessed us. …We’re growing and growing.”
Telge Roofing has been in business for more than a decade. The family-owned company is GAF certified and has earned a 2-Star GAF President’s Club Award Status. They’ve been the “Living Magazine” Best of Cy-Fair Readers’ Choice Winner for roofing five years in a row, and have nearly 44,000 customers between the greater Houston area and Austin.
“We just started building about five months ago in Austin; it’s going well,” Campbell said. “We’re going to go to south Texas as well and I don’t know where we’re going after that, but we’re making a lot of families happy and rebuilding their homes.”
The company looks forward to moving soon into their new facility at 15915 Telge Road in …….
